I really don't have a clue about scales and modes and stuff. It turns out that I combine Aeolian and Dorian without even knowing it. This videos is the straight up E Dorian Scale as I'm reading it off my laptop screen. Some notes sound kinda funky, but I'm pretty sure they're in the scale.

An old keyboard is playing the droning E background stuff and I'm playing my '61 Reissue SG through my CAA OD100 SE+ with some Boss DD20 delay going on in the loop.

If you know alot about this stuff and you see me doing something wrong, go ahead and say it. Really.

  • How long would it take you to learn a scale all over the fretboard? Not perfectly but enough so you could use it?

  • @SRV1DOORS1HENDRIX1 Heck, I dunno. I've never really learned a lot of theory. I usually just kinda go for it and it either works or falls apart. LOL

  • I noticed the "Perpetual" sign in the background, is that from your old band days Chris lol. :)

  • Of course!

  • That was pretty cool, Gilmourish. Especially with the droning E.

Is the 61' better than the standard SG? I know the pickups are different. I dont have huge Hendrix hands, is the 61 neck profile easier to wrap around?

    Good job.

  • I'm pretty sure there are differences in the neck joint, how many pieces are used to make the body, larger headstock, smaller pickguard, different pickups, etc... Not sure what other differences there may be.

Yeah, the neck profile on the '61 Reissue seems to be quite a bit smaller than the SG Standards I've played.
