I lived in Ipswich at the time as a military dependent. I was at this race on the opposite side of the starting line as a seven-year old kid. Barry Lee was my favorite racer. We were at the race in both 1976 and 1977. In 78, we were preparing to leave and our going away party was the day of the race. Barry drew the #1 spot and my mother said, "We may as well leave now - this one's over." It was, too. Thanks for posting this!!
