BTW - I don't have the Hoot DVD yet - but that's the legendary Eric Weissberg on mando behind Bob - apparently Elmerlee Thomas also? Leon Bibb?

That WAS Eric Weissberg...the Tarriers were on that same show...Jackie Vernon was too!

One of the earlier episodes features Vaughn Meader in the comedy spot. When JFK was shot Lenny Bruce is reported to have said "Oh man...Vaughn Meader is SCREWED..."

I've been told that Bill Lee, the black bass player who played behind Odetta and other folks back in the "folk scare" was the father of producer Spike Lee. Has anyone else heard that?

This is definitely one of my favorite performances from this DVD. Bob Gibson was an amazing performer. I wish I could be in the audience, but sadly I was born three decades later.

WOW! Thanks seansvoice - Gibson's daughter is slowly releasing some of these wonderful videos of this fabulous but under-appreciated folk artist (from TV shows other than this vid from the "Hootenanny" collection). There's also a Bob Gibson website now ...an artist to be treasured.
