c74 - iPhone / Max/MSP bridge

Demo video of the c74 app that lets you connect Max directly to your iPhone.

The app displays user interface objects on the iPhone similar to those found in Max, the objects are created by sending messages like 'slider volume 100 100' to the c74 external (which is available for free at http://www.nr74.org/c74/c74v1.3.zip). The external also works within Max4Live enabling control of Ableton Live as well.

Next to the user interface aspects of the app, c74 is also able to forward :
- accelerometer data
- gps
- compass
- shake gestures
- proximity sensor

i think the ipad will really be a better controller than my itouch for apps like this -

apple really dropped the ball with the ipad .. but the diy / jailbreakers will pick it up and run with it :)!!!!!

Hi there FSK1138,

I agree that the iPad will become a better controller than the current handheld devices, I've already compiled the iPad version so we just have to wait a bit. Still I want to make clear that c74 is an app that went thru all of the official Apple stuff and I personally don't like jailbreaking but hey it's just an opinion.

I can't make the connection. I've installed the c74 external, help file and the iphone app. I've connected to the same network on both my macbook pro and the iphone, yet they can't connect. Any help here or links elsewhere would be much appreciated.

Congrats Leo! This app looks really nice and efficient!

Just one question: since I'm thinking too to the iPad as remote controller, can you tell us what do you expect by using it in a live contest, let's say as a replacement of a Lemur? In other words, how far from the computer it's possible to bring the iPad (or now the iPhone) still maintaining a reliable and good connection to it in a live contest? Will the latency be still acceptable?
