I really have a lot of respect for RIM with the Blackberry bridge, nice useful feature when one has a phone & a tablet

  • Software is easy ... lol

  • Bit, it's easy to me. The iPad is yes "just a smart phone with a bigger screen" I can pass it to my mom in Florida and she can see what I was looking at. Not a laptop, but that is what I use it for.

Blackberry, I would guess 50% or more are forced to you use one so the metrics are off.

That said ... Bridging requires a Playbook tablet and a BB. meaning you have to match your "tablet" to your smart phone. I know BB is very secure, and I am forced to use a BB at work. Web browsing sucks on BB

  • Also, what I look for in a tablet is raw functionality. I own the 12" Asus EEE Slate. It turns Windows 7 so you have all that stuff and most importantly a Wacom Digitizer. The device is not perfect, the screen is slightly too big for me, and the battery life isn't that great. With that said, I was able to watch a bunch of episodes of Two and a Half Men from a USB hard drive while on a 5 hour bus trip. I don't see any iPad doing that.

  • I'm supposed to be charged for tethering but for some reason I never am. I was never able to confirm this but I believe that all phones you buy from the carrier are programmed to go through a proxy of some sort when tethering is enabled. Since I have an unlocked and rooted phone, it doesn't go through the carrier and my tethering appears as regular data. I really don't see why carriers charge you for this. A bit is a bit, doesn't matter if from a phone or tablet.

  • @mrbit10 i can't argue with you. if your device does what u want and need, then is your choice. i just have a problem with companies that can't be humble and truthful about their current level. don't talk shit and disappoint, stay quiet and amaze us.

i hate the "mac fanboy" thing. if i like my mac doesn't mean that i don't like my logitech mouse. is just stupid.

  • @crashnoww you have valid points, i got the PB at its lowest price 189, i would not buy it if it were more. Feb brings the update which looks cool based on some CES vids i am watching. BB did release a half baked product but wow is the OS powerful IMO & so much potential. Conversely i could never buy the iPad at its price point, perhaps not even at 189 if it cannot do what i want it to. take care :) I am still a "Mac" fanboy though :P

  • @crashnoww i originally got a smart phone to extend my work services without all the hassle of carrying a notebook. This is why i prefer the 7inch tablet over the iPad, even more portability. so if say Apple's vision is media consumption dominant, it becomes less interesting to me as it is not providing me with what i want a smart "mobile" & very portable device for. thanks again :)

  • @crashnoww thanks for your viewership/comments, via concurrent, i do not mean media but creation, i JB'd my old iphones to have somewhat concurrency, FTP up while edit, then take incoming data from my netbox all need to happen at once. webOS & QNX can do these things far better, however if i lost that ability for the sake of battery life, i am not interested in the product. another example is multi-emails while surfing , i do not want to wait for browser load, i can type while waiting
