@Owaa22 I just want people to understand why there are Pads in AF and not in rugby, since the contact is a different beast for both.
-
@Badlogic2 Yeah thats true, I just don't think people should underestimate the impact tackles have when rugby and league players tackle. Sure we focus on technique but we are taught and do look to drive and make the contact count. Same goes for NFL, not every tackle is a massive hit, some CB's and safety's have great technique.
-
To bad I play it, it was a bad comparison, but a rugby tackle is stopping with technique more than anything. Most tackles aren't going to be big hits, they're going to be solid wrap ups. Not every Rugby player is Sonny Bill Williams or A Tulagi who can make those giant hits while wrapping up.
-
@Badlogic2 If rugby is like Mr Fantastic wrapping you in arms so you can't move, than you're obviously not playing rugby.
-
@lynnthomas23 A rugby tackle is like Mr. Fantastic, he wraps you up to the point where you can't move forward. Maybe some force behind it.
A football tackle is like a punch from the hulk, there's no though involve, its hard, its a collision, you stop moviing.

@thelookats i agree with u i played rugby i was a winger and a fullback never been that tred in my life constant movement and chasing down kicks is enough to kill u lol rugby is harder then football by far when people ask me whats the diffrence between rugby and football i say rugby is like football and a barfight combined lol i was just defeing my fellow nfl athletes NFL athletes have many under 10.00 flat 100m sprinters and over 500 pound benchers we r the real deal

@413mofo hey mate i agree with you that nfl players are incredibly strong, explosive and fast, however rugby union players shit on NFL players, Compare two similar positions e.g a WR or RB from the nfl to a winger from rugby (speedsters). A wr or rb just runs for a short 2-3 seconds and after he gets a break. The winger from rugby union runs all game attacking, runs around covering ground on defence, catches the ball, tackles and even kicks the ball for territory. Rugby players = versitile

@supersaiyanmofo wow that's realy interesting because alot of my simian and Tongan team mates grew up playing rugby and they are alot bigger than 300 pounds and are linemen and my two freinds who play rugby for Cal drew hijer and Rob suliven who r converted linemen and most Americans who play in Europe are linemen that liked rugby because they got to run with the ball

As Bennie Brazell (NFL who converted to rugby) said, in the NFL, you only need to play for 4 seconds each time. Then you go sit down and drink gatorade. In rugby, you have to run and hustle for 80 minutes. I watch both, i enjoy the rest in NFL too, because it allows them to be more explosive each play.

NFL is shit, these guys would snap NFL guys to pieces, whats the deal with all those pads, take em off and mix it up with rugby players.

@lynnthomas23 Don't be so ignorant, I watched rugby from childhood but I also watch NFL. Don't try and merge them or compare them. The beauty is in the contrast.
