This is day 2 of starting the babies. This is their first time being saddled. Witness what their initial reactions are. Murphy is the first horse and Shindig is the second. For the record, Murphy is a gelding and Shindig is a mare.

Today, I just wanted them to get aquainted with the saddle. I didn't have to lunge them very long because they weren't that bothered. Tomarrow I will follow a short lunging with ground work, ie steering, stopping. It won't take long because they did a lot of this, this year for in-hand trail. I did not do this in a round pen because they have never used one.

See you tomarrow!

  • I adopted two wild mustangs, a filly and a colt. The first time I introduced the saddle to the colt he jump clear up into the air with all 4 feet off the ground. Then looked at me like "wtf just happened?" I love starting horses.... so many laughs....

  • @pinkcheezypoof How awesome! They are hilarious! My favorite is when the go and knock something over on purpose, then jump wondering what just happened.

  • Once I get some of my colt training videos on you should check them out. he is 21 months old. he will be 2 years old may 2:)

he has already had a saddle and a bridle on, loads like a dream and is amazing to train:)

  • That's really cool, do you start horses for a living? These two are now four and very very broke. Training videos aren't as easy to make as one would think!

  • The mare didn't have much of a bad reaction as bad as the colt did. Very docile, she will be a great mare when she is older!

  • Actually, she is the more jittery one of the two. The gelding is as quiet as they come. She is a little more sensitive to what you ask. She is already a great mare and a wonderful mover, they both are!!!

  • pretty horses

  • lol...gotta love babies XD

  • Thanks and no, I have never had a foal and my friend's mare was with foal, once the foal was born I went over to see him. and convinced my parents to let me buy him, I was 13 then and they told that if I could rise the $800 I could buy him:)

yea training videos are hard I don;t know what is harder the training or making the videos:)

if you go to FourCornersFarm13 channel, that was my old channel, but for some reason the videos didn't delete you can see some of his clips:)

  • Every one trains in different ways, I'm not saying that your right, phoenix015 is right or that I'm right, but to each their own, & she's going through what all of us do, & that is we're learning the way that works best for us and the horse that we're working with, I think its best to support someone who has a good heart and no intention of hurting the horse, phoenix is doing a great job, she's just young and training 2 horses, I give her credit for doing it herself, learn a lot more that way.
