The actual name of the song is just, "Hey, Liberace". I came up with the name, "The Hillbilly Song" just to get your attention. Worked, didn't it?
I think the idea of Liberace playing hillbilly is so novel that it just had to be shown in my channel! It's a funny, entertaining song that just goes to show the wide range of Liberace's talents. This comes from a TV special (now in the public domain) called "The Easter Seal Teleparade of Stars". It aired in 1955. I'm not positive, but one source tells me it was aired on March 11 of that year. It was a 30-minute special that was practically a Jack Benny special. This featured Jack Benny and a number of people that were associated with his show.
The guy that introduces Liberace and his brother, George Liberace, is none other than Bob Crosby, Bing's brother. Bob Crosby was also a well-known singer and bandleader, but not quite in the same scope of popularity as his brother.
The song Hey Liberace was a novelty record by Charlie Adams from late 1953. COLUMBIA 4-21195
