@ipzent i thought it was based on a true story, but the actual violin used and that inspired the movie was one made by none other than Stradivari and was nicknamed the red violin for its rich red colour and a noticable 'red' line down the body of it.

@ipzent actually there is, its called the Mendelssohn red violin made by Stradivarius. While the story is fictional, the violin is real

@megagnathos sorry let me refraze myself, I got off to a bad start. What I ment to say was the real red violin was made from brutally killing a soft and pretty redhead, laying her out liek a slab of meat and taking from her the very soul she refused to give up. Thats what I meen. Play with some dignity man or burn the god damned instrument for crying out loud :(
