http://www.frankperry.co.uk Continuation of the spontaneous solo improvisation upon hundreds of antique Tibetan Singing Bowls by lifetime musician and acknowledged master and singing bowls expert Frank Perry pioneering meditative percussion music for over 40 years since 1968. He has played with such luminaries of the improvising world as Derek Bailey, Evan Parker, & Keith Tippett. Exploring the subtle dimensions of these exotic-sounding sacred ritual instruments, traditionally used for meditation and healing in the Himalayan region, in a spiritually inspired improvisation of almost 50 minutes. Here he continues exploring the sound world of his spiral of Yang bowls before moving back to incorporating medium-sized lower pitched singing bowls and the spiral of bowls exploiting the upper partials (higher harmonics). A Chalice Bowl and two Water Bowls also grace this section. This was taken from his headlining performance at the annual weekend festival of improvised music held at the Lighthouse Arts Centre in Poole on Halloween 2009. He has appeared on over 100 album releases on 33 record labels. Filmed by Rose Perry.

I am rather amazed at how there are such different sounding bowls. Each collection or group of bowls he has laid out contain different sonic qualities. And there was I thinking that a bowl is a bowl. He manages the transition from one type of sound to another quite seemlessly. For myself, I am grateful that there are creative individuals such as this alive upon the planet providing us all with a healthy and wholesome alternative to what passes for entertainment. I can't thank you enough.
