this needle has a hole in the end with a thread cut (like for screws) or you can get a flat needle with two prongs that holds the leather..both available from leathercraft shops.

I discovered a way to make simulated leather using jean material, as first you paint both sides with a flat primer, aloow to partially dry, then go over that with a semi-gloss, buffing it out when completly dry.

It can then be cut, & designed just as any leather, even making fringe, or braids, & only an expert could tell the fifference once the project is completed.
