This is a dance piece created as a Gr. 12 art project by Asher Bowen-Saunders. (Aged 16 1/2) She uses contemporary dance to tell a story about an aboriginal group from North Stradbroke Island, (Off Brisbane) Queensland, Australia. An aboriginal woman in a group showed strange mental behaviours & her people couldn't manage her. The group left her on a rocky-promintory now known as "WAIL ROCK". When they returned, she was gone, but her cries could be heard in the wind - hence the name. Asher was moved to create 3 art pieces: a sculpture, charcoal drawings & this dance, all concerning this incident. Another legend on the island is a spectre of a woman in a white dress who is often seen near a bus-seat. On the morning of filming, going to the beach, Asher found a perfect Faerie ring of mushrooms, & as legend has it, if you enter a ring, you are taken by the faeries & dance forever until you go mad. It seemed fated for use in this project. Written, choreographed, danced & edited by Asher Bowen-Saunders. Filmed by Deb, Ebony & Jesse.
