Reggae Roast Records are proud to present: Serious, the debut single from The Hempolics. The band formed in London in early 2009. Spawned from the urge to make real music, they have created a perfectly balanced, organic, yet distinctly bionic style. The Hempolics crew includes artists such as Maxi Jazz, Paolo Nutini, Harry Collier, Dandelion and One Eskimo. Lead vocalist of the group; Dandelion takes the reigns on this track with an extremely catchy hook and fantastic melody line.

Over the past 3 years Dandelion has recorded tracks with some of the biggest names in Reggae and Dubstep. Highlights include; CCTV, released on the Hyperdub imprint, which achieved airplay on Radio 1 and was then re-released by the legendary Soul Jazz Records label. The Hempolics have just been confirmed as the official support act for Faithless on their 2010 UK tour, so you can expect to hear a lot more from the band over the next few months.

The Hempolics were formed by Grippa Laybourne, who experiments with ideas heavily influenced from the purest roots of Reggae to Hip-Hop, Soul and Electronica. The Hempolics produce a contemporary and diverse pallet of original textures, with forward thinking songs and unique vocal performances. Sick of listening to cheap, empty music, The Hempolics have backlashed with a gang of real musicians, real singers, no egos and lyrics full of heart.

RR Records are currently pushing at the forefront of new UK Reggae and this track is a prime example of the talent and vitality of the next generation of British roots. The Hempolics, like many other artists on the Reggae Roast roster are enjoying the current boom in roots music appreciation. Much of this recent popularity can be linked to the successes of Dubstep, which has in tern highlighted a huge amount of talent in the more traditional sounds, heard on this record.

Serious pays homage to the roots of The Hempolics sound, with a distinctly vintage, rocksteady feel throughout. Dandelions conscious lyrics are matched with a pitch perfect vocal melody, which has already made it a hit among DJs and sound systems across London. Serious has achieved multiple plays from David Rodigan on Kiss 100 fm and is destined to become a modern classic, with great crossover appeal as we start to approach the summer months.

Two massive remixes come courtesy of RacknRuin, whos recent releases have been enjoying airplay from DJs such as Fake Blood, Zinc and Annie Mac. The first is an all out Dubstep dance floor smasher, followed by a deeper Digi-Dub remix with monstrous low end appeal.

Serious will be released on a limited edition 7 vinyl, distributed worldwide by Cargo Records. All tracks and remixes will also be available for download from all digital outlets.
