This beautiful mass by Palestrina is performed by the excellent Musica della Cappella Sistina and is accompanied with photographs, taken by me, of York Minster, the largest Gothic cathedral in northern Europe. Its immense size, particularly its wide nave, enables a wonderful acoustic quality for the regular services and concerts which take place there. The Minster is most famous for being the seat of the Archbishop of York, the second highest office of the Church of England. Architecturally, York Minster is famous for its large chapterhouse and three main stained-glass windows: the ornate 'Rose Window' on the south, the 'Five Sisters Window' on the north side and most impressive of all, the 'Great East Window', which is the largest medieval stained-glass window in the world.
