The Story :

After 6yrs, its time...My gf loves music, and plays the piano at church on sundays, while i have even trouble strumming a guitar well.

Hearing from my sister about a school called Play by ear that teaches adult learners, i managed to haul myself there in Mar 09, and after some concentration, found i could use both hands to play the piano.

By Sep 09, i thought i was ready, but the restaurant i had been planning to do it in, could only confirm availability at the last minute.

Fretting over a venue, i happened to be talking to the school's owner Andrew, and after knowing of my problem, he suggested that I propose at the year-end piano recital which i was scheduled to play. Thus, 3 more months of waiting...

Fast forward to december. I had managed to keep my piano lessons a secret from her all this while, unfortunately having to say i was at the gym (sometimes I did), or late at work (every tuesday!)

The next challenge would be, how to invite her for a piano recital without her suspecting it was to do with me?
After some thought, the idea was to ask her sister to invite the whole family along to the recital, and i would get invited along as the "tag along bf".

Her sister kindly agreed, but my busy gf brushed aside the invitation and agreed only tentatively to go.

Meanwhile on Dec 2, we had our first rehearsal. it was my first time touching a grand piano, and my first time playing in front of people (and it was just the 16 performers at the rehearsal) and i could remember my trembling hands after that. It was also the meetup with the emcee, Robert, to plan the interview questions for the event.

Dec 11-18, gf's family and i were in japan and before flying off, I rented a yamaha studio to practise (my piano's really old)

Dec 19, the Day and also first morning back in singapore, I reminded her sis to push her to go for the evening's event and as my friend eddie drove me for my practice session, she finally called me and reminded me "to go for a piano recital with her family".. .....nice....
I reached there at 5pm for the rehearsal after which I booked seats, making sure she would sit right next to the aisle. When the recital started, i then began thinking of what to say after my playing....
