-
i love petes voice is really beautiful and powerfull
-
id lose me to find you!!
-
I love how he sings "heeaaaaaaaaaaad!" at 3:27. It sounds like me in the shower singing this song.
-
All those pauses. Now you know why the Who's Next version is Keith Moon's greatest performance on drums. The fills on "Bargain" are incomparable.

I first heard this song (well, just a small part of the chours) as a kid in a dumb car commercial. Years later, after discovering The Who I came to find out that dumb car commercial jingle was actually one kick ass rock song. Thank you, Pete Townshend, and screw you Nissan.
-
I haven't heard this song since 1983 and I've always wondered where this version came for. Thanks for posting!
-
Me likey-likey!
-
@LoveRegin1973. Just one minor correction for ya, The Ox played the bass on this demo for Pete. But you are correct, Pete played everything else :-)
-
it is documented that brian jones went to morocco .. other stuff did follow.... but i hear morocco. i hear the good hash. why have to travel so far for freedom?
-
Thank you Darth Murray!! I have never heard these demos before.. they are wonderful! I thought I was a Who fan.. you are the A #1..
-
Yea the demos are the versions that the song writer creates by himself and shows it to the band before they record anything. Pete is singing, playing piano, guitar, drums, bass, and any other instruments that are used on all of these and they're great adding the other guys from the band just made it better.
-
What do you mean "recording yet more versions of old songs"? This was recorded before any other versions...I'm pretty sure. Please help me out. Thx.
-
those 80's scoop lps were are great insight to how much thought pete put into the lifehouse songs and pretty much all songs before them
-
I've been trying to find the CD.
-
Can't believe it's that old. Sounds so new!
And it's like a new record altogether. These comments are important to archive from fans who are listening to something for the first time. I wonder if Pete would consider recording yet more versions of old songs. Someone should ask him. He'll still be doing it at 100 and sounding at his best.
thanks so much for this!!
