"To love. To be loved. To never forget your own insignificance. To never get used to the unspeakable violence and the vulgar disparity of life around you. To seek joy in the saddest places. To pursue beauty to its lair. To never simplify what is complicated or complicate what is simple. To respect strength, never power. Above all, to watch. To try and understand. To never look away. And never, never, to forget." - Arundhati Roy

When you seek joy in the saddest places, don't you simplify the complicated? Don't you look away and stop watching? Don't you forget? How can joy possibly be found where sadness takes the center-stage? What is so wrong in sadness anyway? And what is so grand about joy? It is nothing but being in fool's paradise. Looking the other way.

When you respect strength but not power, don't you become a hypocrite? Aren't both the same, found together, brothers in arms, partners in crime?

Communication without content is like air without oxygen.

    Arguments consist of 3 parts:

    1) assertion / claim/statement

    2) analysis / reasons

    3) examples / proof

Only through an example and representative evidence, an assertion with rationale becomes an argument.

Often statements on YT are one-dimensional, rare factual and have a tendency to generalise.

It seems you haven't read a book by A. Roy

"Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery, none but ourselves can free our mind..." a true song.

    Bye!

oh shut up please. Dont' be so patronising.....she is on record defending terrorists multiple times; especially islamic terrorists, beheaders and mass murders. Anyway, thankfully she is only given respect of a talkative clown by the policy makers in India.

How can you make such foolish allegations?

The usage of words (or defamatory statements without evidence) says far more about the user than the person being described.

"Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former." (Albert Einstein)

    Reading endangers stupidity!

"The mullahs of the Islamic world and the mullahs of the Hindu world and the mullahs of the Christian world are all on the same side. And we are against them all." (Arundhati Roy)

according to her all capitalism is evil, all democracies are evil but islamic terrorism is just fine; treating women less than animals under islam is perfectly okay; beheading of innocent people under some fatwa is absolutely fine; blowing up of trains, hotels, streets and buses in the name of koran & alla is justified;........she is anti-progress and pro-islamic jihad.....she would be very happy to be a 10th wife of some jihadist it seems.

I just can't stop watching this. Kind of a mantra for me. It is magical, powerful and dreamy. I'm going to print the text and put it on a wall in my bedroom. Love, Arundhati
