GANG Busters
Great fun in the park in Rittenhouse Square last night with GANG , the Philadelphia four-piece fronted by Amanda Damron and Jaclyn McGraw who deal in delirious semi-robotic 1980s dance-party rock. Particularly loved that "Get out of my face" song.
Normally, GANG, who were opening for Phosphorescent (who are pictured at the bottom), cover Rage Against The Machine's "Killing In The Name Of," but last night they opted for the B-52s' "Dance This Mess Around," appropriately enough since GANG will open for the '80s hitmakers at the Electric Factory on Oct. 2.
"My dad made me listen to the B-52s," said J. McGraw, who was celebrating her birthday. "Thanks, Dad!" Tim Sonnefeld is on drums, and Nicole McGraw on bass. It was the first of three free Wednesday Philadelphia Weekly-sponsored Concerts in the Park.
