Crab Bank

The project on locally-based coastal fisheries management in Prathew District, Chumporn Province is a collaborative program with the Department of Fisheries Thailand and SEAFDEC, which aims to involve local communities in the conservation and re-habitation of fisheries resources. Crab bank is one of the project activities to create the peoples awareness in conservation and re-habitation of the resources. The project also provided support especially in post bacterial analysis of the crabs and culture technology including training and visit to other crab bank projects by Mr. Jang, head of the group who is taking technical care of the crab bank activity of the project. The project activities also include promotion of mangrove conservation in Toongmaha Parkklong which commenced in 2002 with support from the Thailand Development Institute.
