A very unusual recording from one of the female pioneers of country music, Skeeter Davis landed in the Top Ten with this September, 1963 hit, "I Can't Stay Mad At You". The song is a straightforward pop tune which had little or no appeal to her country music audience at the time, but it came on the heels of her recording of "The End Of The World" which was one of the great country crossover songs which had reached #2 on the charts earlier that year.
Love Skeeter Davis!
