I found this at Goodwill but I have no idea what it is. So I turned it into an alcohol burner. If you know what this really is please let me know.

Hey buddy, the item you are using is called a "MARLBORO STAR ASHTRAY". Hope I was able to help you out..... Now after seeing that sucker burn I think I may try to find one for myself and future hiking trips. Never seen an alcohol stove put out like that ashtray did. Such a wonderful accident. Thanks.

...granted, it is an ol' Marlboro promotional ash-tray...however, due to its construction it'll heat the fuel-up nicely enough to gasify it to burn so nicely...mebby a ring of fibre-glass to control excess evaporation...covered by a perforated stainless-steel disc...w/the whole thing set in a holder to prevent burning/scorching what it sets upon...100reds of possibilities...
