There is a minimum age but no real maximum age but skaters usually are out of eligible competetive skating by 30.I think Tara with exercise and training again could go back and win Gold again.Even better under the new scoring system.designed for the ALL Around Skaters and crediting what they do and a fall doesn't automatically lose the whole skate like when Tara won.As for Michelle Kwan Tara didn't beat her she beat herself on the Ice.Tara I believe intimidated Michelle Kwan with her jumping.

@GuitarBaby22 No age restriction. Just have to be turnign 16 the year of the olympics, so, you have to be 16 to participate in the olympics. I think. I'm not 100% clear. but i know she is the youngest Gold Medalist ever. I still think Michelle Kwan should've won that year. She was just, better. Graceful, great spirals, felxible, great jumps, but she didn't have perfect tripple axels. The new system is horrible, even more flawed then the old 6.0.

@JR08620 actually, last i heard she had hip replacement, b/c she did all those tripples and such at such a young age it damaged her hips to the point where she had too much pain. Then, at 16 she went pro and got paid for appearances, she got the Gold she acheived her dream for that, nothing else to do but move on. Do something else she loves. I think it wasn't a great idea to go pro afterwards, she suffered from constant pain and injuries.

She cheapens herself by hanging out at the club all the time. She used to be seen there all the time. Something still does not feel right when she drinks. I know that she is legal to drink, but she trademarked herself as being a kid. Now, she looks "wrong" at the club scene.
