Scholars have discovered that it would have been performed that way. That's what "HIP" is all about.

A soprano with a Alto?

I simply love this

This is such a great encounter of voices, organ, and space, it could not have happened in a studio in a hundred years. Thanks, Joop, for capturing this. A performance as this will bring you back to what music really is.

I love this piece so much! Great job, too! An image of voices intertwining like vines growing toward light always comes to mind when I hear it. So lovely! I'm a sucker for those wonderful resolutions where the straight tone rolls into vibrato, and the vibrato spins itself into a trill. Like a Divine pair of nightingales warbling the sound of Creation into the world. Magnificent!

I'm sorry but - all the haters need to back off. This is an impossibly hard piece to perform. Its not even supposed to be sung by females. The acoustics sound bad because the recording is poor quality. I bet the sound in the building was awesome. Seriously people just back off. Its very very good that people perform and share this stuff for free, for our pleasure. Seriously. Grow up!

every time I see it, I like it even more! It´s fantastic, even with the turning of pages which doesn´t annoy me at all... It makes it more real even. And the church is really sublime. It´s baroque..isn´t it?

To Idaspe : They are singing in gallican latin used in France at the time of Couperin, not the Roman pronounciation.

Be quiet... :)
thx for the comment! Said the page turner, aka joopschilp. I agree with you as concerning the better atmosphere you get whn you record live, from the place where you are seated, corresponds better with reality then all the 'enhancements' made afterwards by sound engineers.

It's a very nice performance, however, they rush a little bit. It should be a slow piece as Monserrat Figueras interprets it. But it's just my opinion.

I'm also a big fan of Jordi Savall and Montserrat also. Since many years already. But this perfomance also okease me a lot. it's real, live and so, no studio perfomance and the church acoustics give it a lot extra. And it's free to listen. Which also is not unimportant, give or take a little page turning sounds...lol. I like to hear the live thing, not just copying some dumb dvd.
