Collecting Anopheles Mosquitoes Using Resting Boxes

This brief video illustrates how I perform resting box collections in northern Virginia. This method of mosquito surveillance is very effective at collecting Anopheles spp. It is also one of the most efficient ways to collect large numbers of mosquitoes digesting bloodmeals. These individuals are especially useful for people studying blood parasites or conducting research about what types of animal a particular species of mosquito is feeding on.
