If you're not aircraft savvy this will be a long and boring video for you to watch. This was at the Peachtree, GA Airshow 10 October 2010. I was one of the crew chiefs on the HH-60G Pave Hawk parked next to the Apache.

  • ac 13 in back?

  • @Balint2424242 It was just a regular C-130, not the AC.

  • Thanks for posting this, great video! Just a question, prob. silly, but still:

Just how fast can one of this helicopters take to complete the full startup sequence from cold to take off? I ask this becasue what if there's enemies approaching and the Longbow has to escape?

I understand here it took it's time, right?

    Thanks!

  • @JOHNNYWADTON If they had to scramble they can be in the air in just a couple of minutes. Every crew has to do a pre-engine start checklist, engine start checklist,, get clearance from airfield management or the tower to taxi and/or take off. The checklists are to verify all systems/control of the aircraft are functioning properly and to ensure safety of the crew and/or anyone around the aircraft. This goes for any military aircraft no matter which branch of service.

  • That was awesome

  • i like it!!!!!

  • That FLCS IBIT sure does take a long time. Especially if LT in the front seat can't remember where the BUCS trigger is. If properly preflighted we can get airborne in a couple of minutes from a cold start. Some of this depends if what kind of T700 the Apache has in it.

  • AWESOME!!! i LOVE hearing the sound of apaches! GO APACHES!!!

  • The 64D can be in the air in as fast as 4 minutes, assuming the pre-flight was complete and NOTHING went wrong. This particular aircraft is prone to hickups because of all the computers on board. 4 mins would be an extreme though. Like Johnnywadton said, there are a lot of checks we have to go through to ensure everything is ready.

  • I didnt know, I was misinformed by Rambo movies =D

Thanks for clearing this up. Best regards.
