Projected Sunscape

Someone explain this to me, because I've never seen it before and I can't understand how it works:

I woke up this morning to see a vivid image of the sun-scape projected on my bedroom door from my window. Over about an 8x8 inch square on the door was an image of clouds visibly floating by and the sun appeared as a perfect circle in the center. It lasted about 10 to 15 minutes (that I saw) and then faded away.

I tried moving my blinds and curtains around and it didn't have an affect (except when I got in the way obviously). However, as you can see, it was definitely coming from the window.

Perhaps I'm easily amazed or just really unobservant of nature, but it seems to me to defy the basic laws of light diffusion that I thought I understood (though obviously not that well).
