In 2008, a rod bearing went out on my 1924 Ford Model T Coupe engine. The inside of the engine was filled with pieces of metal. There was no other choice but to completely tear down the engine and transmission and rebuild it. Thanks to Jack Putnam's advice and expertise, the transmission was completely rebuilt and the engine was taken to a machine shop, bored and cleaned, and everything was replaced inside the engine. New aluminum pistons, valves, lifters, cam, ring gear, EVERYTHING!!! My friend Brian and my son John helped put everything back together. In the mean time, Brian found an old 454 block with all the rusted parts laying in someone's yard. He bought it, took it home, took the block to a machine shop and completely replaced every part in it. Since we both rebuilt engines, I thought it would be fun to compare the first engine starts of both to each other. What you see here is actual footage from those starts. Now we are both ready the the Michigan Woodward Dream Cruise in August. It is the greatest car event in the world where you can see everything unimaginable appear in driving condition.
I'm sorry about not showing both cars. It would have been cool to see them but I don't have video of them; just the engines. Maybe next summer!
