This is the most powerful rifle in the world. The Barrett 50. cal. It is mostly used in the military and in iraq. It can take out enemy vehicles and if you get hit by one then.....your screwed!
@Kapkaart The bullet loses velocity as it travels through the air, so not quite. 2700 fps out of the muzzle, which can mean 270 feet covered in a tenth of a second. This is where that velocity comes from.
most of this is word for word what the guy said on future weapons about the m107 barrett, and i hate how call of duty made everybody call the M82 or the M107 barrett just "the barrett 50 cal". both of them are semi auto and both are 50 caliber. and the disadvantage of semi automatic sniper fire in a combat zone is that its louder and more noticable which is bad. I love this gun but people are stupid.
@rhinohelmes No, I haven't! I'll have to look it up. He also said that if you're within 5metres of a mortar round you get vaporized. True? 81mm round I think, so I think it might be true! :)

2700 ft a second? So they travel a mile in under 3 seconds?
Believable now that I think about it.

@rhinohelmes Really? Well, sorry if I'm wrong. But that's what my friend told me. And he's in the RAF Regiment. :)

@Bill56569
that's not true,
if you fire a .50 bullet within 4 cm of a plate of glass or a wine glass it barely moves...
