In the first 3 months after the goldfish babies were born, I used this mini siphon to vacuum the waste from the small tank (EVERYDAY). The suction is mild but does the job well. I had to be really careful not to get near the babies. They got used to me doing this regularly that they would go to the other side of the tank to avoid the siphon tube. I'm usually very careful but accidents do happen and sometimes a fry would get sucked in it :( this happened a few times and I did lose 1 or 2 fry babies.

The "Python Squeeze Siphon Starter" can be found here - bigalsonline

http://www.bigalspets.com/Python-Squeeze-Siphon-Starter/dp/B0017JHPA6

- amazon or drsfostersmith and cost about $8. Should also be available at any LFS. If the stores are out of stock you can order directly at pythonproducts com or call them at 414.355.7000.

The flexible and rigid airline tubing can be purchased at Petco / PetSmart / DrFostersSmith / Petsolutions / etc.

**It's best to keep a bare-bottom tank when raising fry.

  • Great video! Thanks for the tips. I am going to order one today. It seems so much easier than the larger ones and we have a small fish tank.

  • @theschoolpsych Cool :) They have the Python Squeeze Siphon Starter available at petsolutions and drsfostersmith again. Happy fishkeeping!

  • hey could you please tell me where i could buy the siphon from...? i have looked everywhere even those you put up and nothing...? thanks

  • @sweetbutterfly5 The Python Squeeze Siphon Starter ran out of stock in major pet stores and online but they have a new shipment coming out next month according to the manufacturer. You can still order it directly from the manufacturer - call (414) 355-7000.

  • @huntawunta thanks for the info. is there an equivalent? its just that I live in the UK so it will probably cost me a lot to get one shipped from the US

  • @sweetbutterfly5 Anytime I order something this size and weight from the UK, it's only under $10 to ship. Why don't you call the manufacturer and find out? I don't know what you have available in your area that is similar to this. Maybe check out your local home improvement store...

  • @huntawunta Thanks ...Your vid helps me!

  • @asiandude666 Thanks! Saw your "How To: Make Mini-Gravel Siphon" vid :)

  • I really love your design. I simply mod a few thing out of your video of my smaller 5 gallon. I am going to search my hand of that python squeeze to make siphoning the water a bit faster.
