hi mayen, im new at this and i really want to start my first cake, but whats the diff. of gum paste and fondant for figures, i have sooo many questions. how can i get a hold of yu. oh and i dont have a professional mixer only a lil. can i use that to make my fondant.

I have the tutorial on the difference between fondant and gumpaste on my channel... and also how to make the mm fondant. Using a smaller mixer -- i suggest making small batches so that the dough hook can still mix it well. so just cut the recipe in half to yield 1.5 pounds of fondant.

I haven't been able to find tylose (except online). What type of store usually carries this? Also, is tylose glue made with tylose powder, and how? What alternatives can you use for the glue? I've heard egg whites and corn syrup work - any luck with these?

I have found tylose in my local cake supplies store too. tylose glue is made of tylose powder and water -- 1 part of tylose powder to 30 parts water. ( i use a teaspoon ) i havent tried using eggwhites and corn syrup... i dont know how long that will last too since you will be using something raw like eggwhites.
