  • Skull and Bones Gang: New Orleans tradition in which maskers, with skeletal patterns and white aprons emblazoned with skull-and-crossbones imagery and scrawled, portentous messages (e.g., "You Next"), bring the spirits of the dead to the streets on Mardi Gras. Traditionally, they roam the neighborhood early on Mardi Gras morning, raising a frightful ruckus. In bygone days, theyd brandish huge, bloody animal bones.
