"Greek Street" was directed by Sinclair Hill in 1930 and was a very early British talkie. IMDB quotes a running time of 85 minutes, but this version runs for just 52 minutes. Despite this, the narrative still makes good sense (possibly some musical numbers have been cut) with a story concerning a young couple, (William Freshman and Sari Maritza), whose relationship becomes very strained when the girl embarks on a show business career. Technically the film is typical of its period and it is not surprising that it has sunk without trace, needless to say the film has never been shown on UK tv.
The film was originally protected by the Copyright Acts of 1911 and 1956 and its copyright protection lapsed in 1980. The complete film is presented here for research purposes and it is believed to be out of copyright.
