No better time indeed! I'll have to check out some of her writings then, since video games do need a bit more intellectual recognition. (since the main theory is 'Video Games turn you psycho') Best of luck if you start on that writing, or best of luck on your next video game play. I guess it depends on what you end up doing, eh'?

Agreed. Video games deserve more essays and intellectual literary dissection. I can only think of one indie game developer who really does that kind of thing at the moment: Anna Anthropy, aka Auntie Pixelante. She has written some fascinating articles on gaming as art and experience. I've actually always had a craving to do the same kind of writing one day; perhaps I should get started. No better time than the present.

And there's general fighting games with a final boss that rewards your failures with multiple failures, until success. (See: MK Bosses) You could write a whole essay on 'Failure and Video Games' if someone wanted to XD Anyway, looking forward to watching the rest and future videos!

True enough. A game like Mega Man 9 at least has the courtesy to reward failures with future success as you get level patterns down. On the flip side, a game like Battletoads only rewards failure with more failure since its punishing difficulty ends up being just too much to penetrate (unless you use the warps... and even then, it's still a nightmare to beat).

We have to have something aside from sheer failure. ^_~
"Yay we failed!" At least they are optimistic! XD

Well failure is normally followed by! ...More failure! Which THEN results in success. Depends on what game. ;p
