Just the Iris. The WIP centipede is in another vid. Im blogging my progress and this too half a day to create as i was playing with rigging the damn thing true to life so each blade rotates and slides to open and close the iris simply by rotateing the innter ring.
Tried path constraints, look at targets, position constraints, mixed with IK bones etc etc. Finially got there just using Iks, *eye roll*.
Will be used and replicated on all the exhausts and on the front of the head i may add an "acid spray" with this as the nozzel :D

  • Is is possible to make an iris that expands and contracts externally instead of if internally?

  • @neilious01 erm so like the blades move on the outside of a ring? not sure exactly what you mean soz

  • man is this thing's poly count gonna be through the roof ^^

  • @MaMastoast 5.5k polys for just that iris. 37k polys for the head section - yea :P thank god this project has no polycount constraints xD

  • @Eddievedda1 hehe, it jus bothers me, since I prefer low poly modeling :) Right now im TRYING to learn textuxing.. its a pain since i never even touched photoshop or gimp.. unwrapping is also a biatch :/
