Unfortunately, resolution isn't great. I may have to end up linking to pictures or something. I think part of the problem has to do with how the plastic reflects light.

Monster in My Pocket (which I pluralize as Monsters in My Pocket when referring to the figurines) was a toy line put out by Matchbox in the early 90s. The first series had 58 characters, most of which were only available from mystery boxes with a random assortment of figures & a visible 25 pt monster, and consists of monsters/creatures pulled from mythology, religion, popular culture, and history. The toy line was (later?) accompanied by a trading card set and a playing card games. It was followed by many additional sets, promotional tie-ins, a promotional episode of the tv show (which was awful, fyi), clothing, etc. It was probably one of the biggest things that got me into mythology and stuff.

Also, since each character was available in four colors (green, yellow, red, and purple), you'd need to collect 232 to have the full set (depending on how you look at it).

  • Also the Great Beast was from the Bible so they didnt create it. just wanted to tell ya that too, hope im not bugging you lol

  • @SatansMullet No, that's fine. Somebody else also suggested that. I don't remember like any real clear references on the card, but I assume they probably toned down the connection because parents might find it offensive =x

  • I cant remember but I think this is what I was looking for! when I was maybe 6 or 7 I used to goto 7-11 and get these trading cards that had monsters on them, but i cant remember what they were!

if anyone remembers if it was MIMP or if they remember what im talking about thanks BTW that was 18 years ago LOL

  • @Rleeson85 Yeah, they sold these cards at 7-11. This is probably what you were thinking of.

  • here in mexico those things were the bomb when i was in elementary school

  • Yeah, for some reason they were massively popular everywhere except USA and Canada. I only remember seeing the first 2 or 3 series in stores and none of the spin-offs. There were a lot of cool minis back then, like Battle Beasts and stuff, which might've kept the Monsters from really becoming huge in the US/Canada

  • can you take a look at the 2006 seires but they only sell them in the uk and australa

  • @wcfreak480 Not sure. It might depend on the types of packs, since 7-11 had a separate type iirc. The ones you see here probably aren't worth much, since I think I bought the box off ebay for like 10 or 15 bucks. And before that I paid like $6 or $7 to buy a collection of over 100 loose cards. I also don't think they did a series 2.

  • @girlhater2008

it's not a gorgon, Medusa is a gorgon, the one described as an angel is actually a Cockatrice.

  • @1800s Nope. The Great Beast was from the Bible.

  • I thought that series 1 had 48 characters.

  • I was obsessed with getting slurpees at 7-Eleven when I was a kid back in 1990-1991 so I could collect these cards. I remember getting all of them except for the Invisible Man. Then they stopped making them. I actually just found the binder I kept these in. 20 years later they are still in great condition with that one slot for the Invisible Man empty.

  • i remember that multiheaded beast was called HYDRA, i could be wrong

  • God i used to LOVE these.. i cant EVER find them on Ebay or anything though :( i wish i could buy them again.. but the later expansions sucked.. like the dinosaur ones
