Pires combines real passion and poetry in this exquisite recording. Her late-night performance of Chopin nocturnes in one of London's 'Prom' concerts, was one of the most ravishing and mesmerising experiences I've heard from a pianist. I was truly transported - and I was only listening on the radio!

Sublime.
Graceful, potent; impeccable, and true to the spirit of the piece.
Perfectly stated and rendered piano playing. One of the very best Chopin interpretations.
How incredible it must have been to actually hear Chopin himself playing his compositions. It has been reported in books about his life that his students were the one's to hear him play most freely; as each time he played one of his pieces, it was never quite exactly the same. A master improviser w/fantastic classical technique.
I always cry when I listen alone to her playing this nocturne... I find her so perfect, so perfect for Chopin.
