There was even a movie about them.
Yes, they belong in the Hall of Fame.
To not have them in is a shame.

I met Jan and got his autograph on an original album I bought when it came out, unfortunately never got deans to go with it. I sure did enjoy their music.

This is true, heard the same explanation from Jim Rush, bass player with "Papa Doo Run Run", who were Jan & Dean's backup band for many years after their comeback. I was at the concert in 1973 at the Hollywood Palladium where the "lipsynch incident" occurred, although at that time I didn't know it was meant as a joke.

Just took the book out of the library. I see that Greene has some other books ( e.g. All Summer long, etc..). Wonder if they are about the Beach Boys. ?
