Leonard Peltier, convicted felon and activist of the American Indian Movement, has been sitting in prison since the late 1970's. He may never see the outside of a prison cell because he is serving out two life sentences for the murder of two FBI agents. But a lot of questions have surrounded his conviction. Did the FBI have an agenda against Peltier when they pursued charges against him? Did they treat the case fairly? Was the judicial process handled adequately and accurately when it put Peltier behind bars? Now, with a new administration that's seemingly more sympathetic to Native American concerns, there's a new question: Will Peltier finally be a free man?

  • The U.S. Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals said:

"Much of the government's behavior at the Pine Ridge Reservation and in its prosecution of Mr. Peltier is to be condemned. The government withheld evidence. It intimidated witnesses. These facts are not disputed."

  • Peltier was framed, to put it mildly. It's the FBI and their crminal enablers in government that should be serving life right now. The Leoanrd Peltier case is exxhibit A in FBI/government corruption. The government's corruption in the Peltier case was so bad, so overt, that the courts had to recognize it publicly.

  • have any proof?

  • St Leonard, standing over the bodies of two young men, moments after their heads were blown off by his AR-15 rifle, while Joe Stuntz models a dead man's jacket: “I seen Joe when he pulled it out of the trunk and looked at him when he put it on, and he gave me a smile.” “I didn’t think nothing about it at the time; all I could think of was, We got to get out of here.” (Matthiessen, In The Spirit Of Crazy Horse, p.532). Leonard Peltier: still guilty, still unrepentant, still a scumbag.

  • @bandaidmafia POS.

  • @jamessimon500 Excuse me, I am not normally a girl of harsh words. But, YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT MY PEOPLE! We are not "fooled" by anything. We know what happened. There are people that were there that are still alive. I do not know what religion or belief system you come from. But, my people are believers in rights for all living things we do not destroy lives for no reason. Were you aware of the women and children that were slaughtered, or the 21 year old Native American that was killed that day?

  • let see..... in the land of the free there are political prisoners from the American Indian Movement, Black Panthers Party, PuertoRican Macheteros......... mmmmmm

    smell like racism to me

  • I pray the President will free Peltier. And give more aid to poor reservations.

  • Leonard Peltier’s latest ploy from prison reminds us of all those he has fooled over the years. Although their numbers grow smaller each day, a few still cling to the myths and conspiracy theories they have been conditioned to believe. Despite overwhelming evidence of Peltier’s guilt, they know only discredited histories that white men have foisted upon them. During this holiday season, let us pray Peltier’s latest victims acquire the courage to seek the truth and the wisdom to accept it.
