We have a carlton tree stump grinder which we have had no problems with, although our deutz engine has blown up and we have had many other issues with it. Watch our video to see and hear about some of our frustrations. Keep updated though because we will be adding more to our video of more complications we have had.

  • After 15 years of grinding stumps with my Vermeer 672 and Deutz diesel the engine blew up. Replacing it with a rebuilt engine cost a total of $5500.00. I thought that was good. Just don't run it on a steep angle for an extended period of time and be sure the oil levels are correct when you change it and the engine should last for many years.

  • @eastonsteve Sounds like you have a great machine. I hope you get another 15 years out of it!

I live in a hilly area and have to turn down quite a few jobs.

Some viewers wrote in that I should be complaining about Carltonbecause Carlton didn't select theright Deutz engine. I got Deutz and Carlton on a 3 way conversation and Deutz acknowledged that they were the engines experts and recommended that engine to Carlton.

  • Deutz Rules!!!!!!!

  • yeah some poor sap at deutz was told by carlto to go along with whatever carlton says to you---- great work at carlton!!!!!!!

  • anyhow, deutz engines are the greatest engines ever and you are barking up the wrong tree- looks like carlton has got you going after deutz- the big mega company, instead of carlton, the little company, great manupilation, someone at carlton has a masters in psychology!!!!!!!!!!

  • how about this: the same deutz engine is used in the 863 bobcat skidloader, mounted in the same way and they don't blow up- this is a "carlton fault" all their 30 hp and larger units need a engine "auto leveler" or carlton will have the john deere and cummins motors blowing up as well, due to oil starvation. also, why is the engine protcetion system(carlton)protecting the engine??? evidently deutz didn't know the the whole operational parameters on carlton products that use this engine.

  • don't pull your kids into this...........

  • I think U got the issues mixed up, that the machine is not suited for your particular job is one thing and the engine selection and installation by the maker is another, but you try to blame the Engine manufacturer Deutz for things they don't know , so you are missing the point entirelly ,, Deutz engines been around for over 100 years ,rebuilt from the ashes after the war and they are a proven quality worldwide, sorry you are wrong.

  • You have no anticipation about Deutz!!!!

Deutz are the best and almost the first Motors of the World!! And over all... Made in Germany!!! Deutz ist the Best forever

  • GET A BRIGGS VANGUARD,CAT,OR GM ALLISON DURAMAX MOTOR.

  • BTW, engine warranty covers material, component, or manufacturing defect of the engine as built by Deutz, not the consequential damage caused by you being stupid. Mufflers, which have nothing to do with your primary problem are generally selected/installed by the equipment manufacturer to suit their specific application. You could have figured that out before buying the machine. Engine protection such as auto shutdown on loss of oil pressure are decided on by the equipment manufacturer.
