Alongside Skid Row's hustlers, transients, and cops are a lesser known population of children, social servants and religious workers whose daily lives play out on LA's most dangerous city blocks. Watch "On Skid Row," debuting Feb. 18, to get behind the headlines and into the streets of Los Angeles' Skid Row.

Part 2: Teenaged Skid Row filmmaker Franklin Arburtha carries the mantle of disenfranchised youth on skid row.

He's smart. if i was him i would have picked up the pipe.....but franklin didnt. i hope his skills and talent take him to directing hollywood films. he'd make all the money in the world and never suffer a day in his life again. Franklin i'll pray for you my brother. much love, much respect.

  • I am First Nations and from the age of 2, grew up in Vancouver's Skid Row. I lost 3 sisters there and many cousins and friends. I understand poverty! I have a Master's of Fine Arts degree and haven't let the stigma hold me back.

  • @miqojoe well, I am Canadian I am not sure this happens in Canada as far as the population is conserned...I have never seen this in my life...There are homeless here but honestly they have it good in comparison there are so many social programs they are only there because of drug and or alcohol abuse...

  • @lucy9359

This shouldnt happen anywhere in the world. i guess it just hit you more because you didnt't know how close to home poverty was right. that it was a very bad case in North America.

  • thisd shouldn't be happening in North America not to kids!

  • and look at these videos, under 50k views still, and yet, rebecca black and justin beiber get billions of veiws.

  • Everyone has the same potential. We aren't all born with the same opportunities, but that's no reason to give up on day one. You always have a chance to make life better for yourself.

  • Can you please explain how the average age of a homeless person is 9 but out of 3 million homeless there are only 1.3 million kids? There is no way that both of those statistics are correct. If all of the kids were 1 month and all of the non-adults were 18 the average age would still be much higher than 9....
