Great chemistry between Dessay and Villazon, better than Netrebko and him. Dessay's diction is crystal clear.

This was thrillingly dramatic. Probably the best recorded (CD/vinyl) vocal performance still is Sills and Gedda, but Rolando and Natalie were dynamite here! I like this scene so much that I visited St. Sulpice my last trip to Paris, imagining Manon + Des Grieux there.

This is the best I've ever seen this scene performed- the chemistry is electric!! And Villazon makes me cry with his believableness (even though that's probably not a word).

I've seen this so many times that I lost count. It is so hot! The part after he kisses her and he's pulling away and then she gets him to hold her again. At 6:10, and I didn't notice this before, he looks back. It almost looks like he wants to make sure that no one has caught him doing something naughty in the church! I love this production.
