Zürich Hauptbahnhof is the largest and busiest station in Switzerland and is an important railway hub in Europe. It has several other railway stations, including Oerlikon, Stadelhofen, Hardbrücke, Tiefenbrunnen, Enge, Wiedikon and Altstetten. The Cisalpino, InterCityExpress, and even the TGV high-speed trains stop in Zürich.

Zurich HB is served by more than 2,700 daily trains. The station is busy at all times, with trains running as early as 5 AM and as late as 1 AM during the week. From Friday night to Sunday morning, the trains run all day and all night as part of the ZVV Nachtnetz (night network).

Zürich Hauptbahnhof (kurz Zürich HB, bis 1893 Bahnhof Zürich) ist der grösste Bahnhof der Schweiz. Er ist ein Bahnknotenpunkt für Züge aus dem Inland und den angrenzenden Ländern (Deutschland, Italien, Frankreich und Österreich). Mit seinen mehr als 2'915 Zugfahrten pro Tag gilt er als einer der meist frequentierten Bahnhöfe der Welt. Als Endpunkt der ersten Schweizer Bahnlinie, der Spanisch-Brötli-Bahn, gehört der Zürcher Hauptbahnhof zu den ältesten Schweizer Bahnhöfen.

Das Bahnhofsgebäude liegt im Zürcher Kreis 1 bzw. in der Zürcher Altstadt, kurz vor der Mündung der Sihl in die Limmat und gegenüber dem Schweizerischen Landesmuseum. Die Gleisanlagen erstrecken sich mit einer Länge von etwa vier Kilometern in westlicher Richtung.

La gare comporte 16 voies pour les grandes lignes nationales et internationales avec les lignes EuroCity, Cisalpino, TGV et ICE (InterCityExpress). 10 voies supplémentaires sont réservées aux correspondances locales qui desservent le canton de Zurich. Cette gare longtemps en cul-de-sac et en cours de raccordement avec un tunnel souterrain.

Avec 2915 mouvements de train (dont 884 de grandes lignes), plus de 5000 mouvements de manœuvres et 360 000 passagers quotidiennement, la gare centrale de Zurich est l'une des plus importantes du monde.

Unsere Züge sind stets gut ausgelastet. Manchmal auch stark überbelastet(rush hour). Ausserdem leben in der Schweiz viel Menschen. Fast schon zu viel. Die Bevölkerungsdichte ist höher als die von österreich oder Frankreich. Und weniger als 1 sind Bauern. Hätten wir nicht unser gutes Zugnetz, hätten wir hier ein echte Verkehrsproblem!
