I had the privilege of riding behind 611, riding the cab, and working WITH 611 when it came to Charlotte several times. I am now retired from NS and enjoying it!
Good memories, tho!

Wow what a video! Great view, love the suspense at it enters site and gets louder and closer! Bravo! Love to see more!

@PereMarquette1223 If you want to see 611 being pulled down the hardest I've ever seen, type in "611 Ironsdale Hill". It takes a few minutes for the 611 to come in veiw then she starts spinning and spinning and spinning and finally gains traction but the long passenger train is down hill so it pulls the guts out of 611 to get the train under the bridge and over the hill. And smoke!! Looks like a volcano erupting.

@ArcticStarFox Haven't you heard of 21st Century Steam? It's a program that uses the 3 steamers of the Tennessee Valley Railway museum on NS rails. Southern #630 (recently restored), Southern #4501 (still being rebuilt), and TVRM #610 (down for rebuild).

God!!! I miss her!!!

Nice video. She was truely something to see in person...I'm glad I got to so many times. The great lines, and raw power was a great experience.

haulin' ass and makin' cash...God I miss her...I grew up with her around the Chesapeake Va area.... I hope NS has enough sense to start a new program. Thoroughbreds like her and her sisters don't deserve to rot in a museum

I remember seeing her in Austell,Ga that year! Thanks for sharing this classic piece of historical footage! Make me want to see her again! I told my wife that if I was outside on the porch now, and I heard that whistle, all she'd see was a blur as I went and got my camera and shoes and was gone!!!
