New York Tax Increase
Julie Browers The Governor of New York is planning to increase taxes on many everyday purchases ranging from gas to clothing. Governor David Paterson is making changes so nNew Yorkers will pay to fix the states current fiscal crisis. Paterson wants to revive the state sales tax on clothing and put an obesity tax on non-diet sodas. He reportedly plans to increase taxes on insurance policies and change funding for hospitals and health care providers. This move could shift more health costs on residents and employers. Paterson is scheduled to present the proposed budget tomorrow.
