My question is...There are three model numbers associated with this laptop, which looks like the one i have. V2000-CTO, V2000T-CTO, and V2000Z-CTO. I wish i could find out which one i have, so i can order the correct memory for it.

I tried Ubuntu 11.10 on this machine. For some reason, the wireless isn't turned on by default, and Linux doesn't recognize the hotkey to activate it. Any suggestions?
Also, how does this thing run Win7? Any missing drivers?

Thanks, awesome disassemble video, I watched it and had mine apart in nothing flat!! Is there a way I can test my ram sticks or motherboard to determine which one is bad? I have read that the v2000 had major mb problems.
I have the same laptop that I am trying to get running for my son. When I start it up, the powerbutton, caps lock, scroll, and optical disc drive blink every 2 or 3 seconds, but never boots up. Could it simply be my cmos battery causing this? I was wondering if this one you disassembled had the same problem and that was why you were replacing the motherboard. Would appreciate any info, thx.

@MIGHTYDAD1 I HAD TO REPAIR DC JACKON THIS ON! SOUNDS LIKE MEMORY / MB IN YOURCASE~ SOMETHING IS PREVENTING YOUR LAPTOP FROM POSTING! BAD DEVICE!

Hey! Thanks for the quick reply yesterday! I truly appreciate it. I was wondering how you disconnected the flat plastic wire thing (sorry, don't know the name) @ 3:15. Do you have to just pull it out or lift something up?

@chaos242 one of two ways... clip like things on both sides... or just pull/ push!
