I can understand y some people would fear the sun...b-cuz it will sterilize them. I'm black & even I sunbath WITHOUT sun-tan lotion or other crap b-cuz the sun is healthy for me. Take & leave ur plants out of the sun & watch what happens next. We r human plants. Sun burn is a side-effect of the sun burning the skin from the body not having proper nutrients to counter-act it. Dark & fair skinned people have built-in mechanism to where the body absorbs sunlight & uses when needed more easily.

The UV tubes works like this:
They contain mercury vapour that emits UV when electric current is going through it (plasma), this UV is very dangerous and thus it is VERY important that the coating inside the tubes are "converting" it into UV-A.
Some cheating tanning studios buy cheap tubes to save money, and these are dangerous.
So, one better make sure they use the correct tubes before frying.
Sunlight is the best anyway, just don't rush it.
