  • The one thing I can't stand about YouTube is the petty, insecure people who think they have to "defend" their favorite star as the "best" or better than everyone else who's ever played a certain role. Norma is one of those rare roles that are written so perfectly (like Mama Rose) that it's impossible to suck them. Everyone brings something great to their performance. Patti, Betty, Glenn, Elaine were all terrific in their own specific ways.

  • I thought Glenn Close was great, but Patti was amazing.

  • @lcowles - you didn't see Petula Clark then?

  • No one can sing this role like Patti!! I wish she would revisit this role because it's 20years later and she is the right age for it now. Critics were bitching back then that she was too young for the role of a has been actress. The Toad needs to rework this production and offer it once again to Patti.

  • Sorry, but LuPone, was LuPone, Glenn Close, was NORMA.

  • I was lucky enough to see Lapone and Buckley in Sunset Blvd. in the West End....both brought their own to the part....great ladies!

  • im in it x

  • Perfect

  • God. her voice is SO perfect for this part. No one out-crazys or divas Lupone. why didn't ALW pull his head out of his ass long enough to realize that. oh well, the show was not a great piece of work anyway, so maybe it was better in the long run.

  • what a shame she didn't bring this to broadway. the diva with the most presence of them all.
