Ryan has a huge crash in turns 3 and 4. He was okay but this is one of the worst crashes in IRL history. btw Ganassi was lying, he was injured pretty badly. This is a live call from ABC capped by me. Tape was a little worn though.

  • I believe this HAS to have pre-recorded....The commentators are known for their emotion as well as the fact that they knew immediately who was involved in the crash.

  • @frostyis007 nah I recorded this live and went to the race

  • what injuries did he have, i thought he wasnt injured.

  • @18sux29rox I don't remember exactly. But I was at this race and what Ganassi said was not true. I read in the newspaper the day after this race and it said he had several broken bones and it took him out of competition for a whole year before he recovered racing in the CART/Champ Car series.

  • I can't believe what little reaction the guys in the booth had to the crash. You think you would show some emotion.

  • @NOXXism yes he is in fact jodys son.

  • Tomas Scheckter? The son of jody sheckter?

  • Ahhhhh... Back in the day with Tomas Scheckter.

  • He fractured his back in 8 places, broke his collarbone and foot and suffered inhalation burns to lungs and throat.

He returned 3 months later to competition.

  • broke his clavicles. my favorite current driver

  • @frostyis007

Nope, was live. It probably helped that Briscoe was...

    1. Moving, therefore, no possibility of death

    2. The accident happened right infront of the cameras, with no debate who was involved

  • @OldSchoolNascar He broke both clavicules on that crash - which is not so hard to do and is not that apparent on the spot (don't forget adrenaline keep one awake in such a situation) ;) I think Ganassi was honestly wrong on that time...

  • IndyCar can't say they weren't warned... several times over the years.

  • I remember shitting an entire inventory of cement blocks seeing this live
