there's a big button at the top of the timeline winodw that should be clicked on, but it will only affect layers that have the tick box checked, its one of the 3 lil squares in the layers bit, same icon as the big timeline button.
I have to admit for your first AE comp this is very good. Send me a message if you need any help with AE in future

yea it's on. i couldn't tell the difference either. is it as simple as just clicking it on? am i missing something?
