Just as in the general population adults with developmental disabilities are aging in greater numbers than ever before but with a twist. Adults with developmental disabilties tend to age earlier and faster than the general population and people with Down Syndrome experience a much higher rate of dementia and a faster progression of the disease. With that in mind it's clear that more resources are needed to provide the kind of care Garth Homer Society now provides in its seniors' program. SHAW TV profiled that program on Nov. 22, 2010
